Hitting Commercial Properties’ high standard

When Commercial Properties was looking for a parking partner to manage its permitted lots, factors such as cost and time savings were important, but ultimately it was service that mattered most.

“High-quality customer service was number one, and HotSpot’s been able to provide that for us,” says Megan Scott, manager of sustainability and business operations for the Saint John-based property management company with over a million square feet of space. “We wouldn’t work with a company if we didn’t feel their customer service met our standard.” 

HotSpot provides digital permitting solutions to Commercial Properties lots in Fredericton and Moncton. Before HotSpot, the company used hanging tags and administered permits internally. 

“That presented some challenges,” Megan says. If a permit-holder forgot their pass or switched vehicles, they had to advise Commercial Properties, who, in turn, had to notify the enforcement officers who monitor the lots. It made for unnecessary tickets and a lot of hassle and work.

Now, permit-holders can just make the change in the HotSpot app, where they can also pay and access other self-serve account features. 

Megan says HotSpot has worked hard to meet their requirements, such as waitlist capabilities. HotSpot solutions also enabled Commercial Properties to open up its lots to hourly evening use, adding a new revenue stream to its parking portfolio.  

“HotSpot had the ability to manage both,” Megan says. “I’ve found them to be very responsive to our needs.”
